They're supposed to last almost forever. Very good device. It was a real convenience when doing frequent 3K mile oil changes to not need wrench, and lay on my back the ground change. It does take up room in the already small M12x1.5 thread size, and it slow down drain time, but I just changed my oil change routine to account for that come home from work, open valve, go have dinner, finish after dinner.

On these 123 diesels, after draining the oil, rest of oil change, including filter is done very cleanly from top engine compartment, so this valve was a work saver. This valve is a robust little device that I used with 100% confidence, even high vibrations of the Mercedes diesels.
